Bandana Dribble Bibs - Competition

I first discovered bandana bibs when Daniel was about 5 months old. Joseph had never been a very dribbly baby (except when drinking!) however Daniel was another story having a soaking t-shirt within a couple of hours, if he wasn't wearing & bib. This would then start to give him a rash around his neck. I found that regular bibs leaked through & the plastic backed bibs were great for meal times but not very practical for general wear. Just before his 1st Christmas I heard about bandana bibs & ordered a couple. I found that we were using them all the time and wanted more in funky cute fabrics to match his outfits.

My Baby Daniel!

I decided to have a go at making some myself & after a couple of attempts found a pattern I was Happy with. That pattern fitted him well then & thanks to adjustable poppers still fitted him when he was 2 (& probably still would now at 3).  I backed these bibs with soft fleece which is water resistant so keeps the wetness on the top layer of the bib keeping baby dry, whilst still being breathable. When making these bibs for Daniel I re-discovered my love of sewing & decided to start making them to sell along side my nappy cake business. This was perfect as it meant that I got to buy girly fabrics as well as funky boy fabrics. I have since started making dresses, shorts & t-shirts to add to my range.

As my handmade clothes can be posted (unlike the nappy cakes, which are collection only) and can be bought online through my facebook page. I have a selection of ready made bibs which I can post  out straight away or if you are able to wait a week or 2 then I can custom make using any of my fabrics.

Fabric Addiction

I think I might have mentioned before that I have a bit of a fabric addiction! I would show you a pic of my stash but at the moment it is all in bags so you wouldn't see much LOL. I do however have most of it photographed in the albums on my Facebook page, if you fancy a look.

One of my favourite shops is Prints To Polka Dots, as they have a great range & do a good range of sizes inc fat quarters & 5" square. Their postage is also reasonable & is calculated by weight.

One of my new years resolutions is to organise my fabric so that i can see what I have (without looking on facebook), I'm not allowing myself to buy anymore fabric until I've done so!

I thought i would share with you what I would have bought in the sale had I allowed myself...

Alpine Fabrics Green Cars and Automobiles FLANNEL
This would make some super cute bandanna bibs or baby trousers.
Michael Miller Bunting Stripe

I would have made a lovely summer dress with this.

Robert Kaufman Dress Up in Rose Pink by Fabrice De Villeneuve

I love this fabric but I don't know what I could make with it, maybe a bag or apron.
David Walker for Free Spirit Animals Silhouette Blue
I already have this cute fabric & have made it in to some bandanna bibs which are for sale on my facebook page.

I really could spend all day looking at fabric online...

Festive Sewing ...

As things are starting to feel a bit festive around here, I thought I would share some of my Christmas makes. I love sewing dresses more than any of my other makes, possibly as having 2 boys, it means that I get to make something pretty!

I'm really pleased with this pinafore dress is 100% cotton flannel, I love how the print is festive but not so much that it cant be worn after Christmas. It also has cute heart shaped buttons, that I found in my local haberdashery shop.

Pinafore dress - Age 1-2

I found these super cute Riley Blake Christmas squares at Prints To Polka Dots, one of my favourite online fabric shops. It was great that I could order 1 or 2 squares of each rather than having to buy a whole charm pack. They also sell all there fabric by the 'fat quater' which is great for small projects.

Patchwork Christmas T-Shirt - 9-12 mths
As well as using my machine I also enjoy hand applique, He was made using felt with a fleece scarf. I imported the carrot button from China, which I think finishes him off nicely.

Snowman Applique T-Shirt - 6-9 mths
I also make a lot of bandanna dribble bibs which were one of my first sewing projects, since getting my own machine. I used these bibs all the time when Daniel was little as he was a real dribbler & always had wet t-shirts until I discovered these bibs.

At time of writing all the above items are available for sale via my Facebook page, my ready made clothing & accessories can be found HERE & ready made bandanna bibs can be found HERE
